
Whole Body Vibration – “VibePLate”

The VibePlate provides whole-body vibration. It is large enough for the patient to stand, sit or lie on. What is very important is that it uses only vertical movement. The reason is that vertical vibration is natural movement. When you walk or run, your feet, arms, legs are moving up and down, not sideway or in a circular motion. Therefore, it does not create stress on your joints. When you do a therapy session in our office, you are not exercising one muscle group at a time. Your whole body is engaged in rebalancing, meaning all of your muscles are being worked the entire time you are on the machine. Therefore, your therapy treatment times are reduced since you are working multiple muscles at a time.
With whole-body vibration, you stand, sit or lie on a machine with a vibrating platform. The entire body vibrates due to the frequency of the platform, which causes the muscle to contract and stretch to sustain balance. These natural reflexes are involuntary and happen very rapidly. As the machine vibrates, it transmits energy to your body, forcing your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times each second.

Who Can Use Whole Body Vibration?
Just about everyone!!! It is a very low impact way to gain strength and flexibility. It is great for:
- Those who are recovering from illness or injury
- Individuals who can’t find time to exercise
- Elderly individuals with balance problems (it has a balance bar)
- Overweight individuals who can’t exercise for long periods of time

How Does VibePlate strengthen bone and muscle?
During normal forms of exercise, your muscles contract one or two times per second. Exercising on a VibePlate causes your muscle to contract 10-60 times a second. Unlike other forms of exercise which work on only about 40% of your muscle fibers, VibePlate training works up 90% of your muscle fibers to help you strengthen muscle and develop more muscle tissue.
